About Us

The company was born out of the extensive experience of its founders in the motorcycle racing industry, aeronautical engineering, composites knowledge and aerospace fields. We have 12 years of experience on the motorcycle racetracks of the world and in designing custom sport and race bikes. We have many years of experience in working with carbon fibre and carbon composites in the aeronautical industry. We combine all this knowledge to create the best parts for motorcycles - wheels, tanks, frames, sub-frames, fenders - for road and race environments. Our unique manufacturing process is patented, and gives the best quality part.

BST wheels are tested extensively and the results are published. Carbon Fibre is the ideal material for light, strong wheels, and the BST design gives exceptional performance, whether you are on the ROAD or on the TRACK.

The Britten V1000 belonging to Gary graces the entrance of the factory. Alongside it stands the beautiful Ecosse No. 39 belonging to Gorilla Zilla (the Ecosse is for sale) for which BST made all the carbon parts including tank and wheels.

INSIDE BST - design, manufacture, production

BST Manufacturing

Computerised cutting machines are used to ensure top quality patterns, nesting and numbering.

The Layup Stations are inside a Clean Room, and the staff are trained in laying up
different types of wheels and components.


Hubs are manufactured on-site and are made from aluminium. Hubs are designed for each model of bike.


BST has won a number of awards:

BST was chosen as the 1000th member of "Proudly South African", and was presented with this award by
the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alex Erwin.


BST won the BRAPPY - Best Retail Product for Road Racing for our 125GP wheel.
The front wheel weighs 1.55kg with all spacers, bearings etc.
Gary was presented with this award at the Dealer Expo at Indiannapolis in February 2006, by 2WheelTuner.


In 2005, BST was awarded first prize in the SPII (Industrial Innovation) competition run by the Department of Trade and Industry.
BST was awarded Top Technology 100 status in the Emerging Category in 2003.
South Africa held its Business Week as part of the Gobal Summit on Sustainable Development to showcase sustainable business and innovative design.
BST was a winner of the Design Institute Awards for our carbon fiber wheel.


 
BST is audited annually by the German TUV for its ISO9001:2000 certification.
